Tonio Loewald designed and developed the ForeSight role-playing system, Prince of Destruction (along with Andrew Barry of Realbasic fame), and helped develop a bunch of children’s games (Bananas in Pyjamas et al).

We have listened to our developers and taken much of their feedback to heart. Based on their input, today we are making some important changes to our iOS Developer Program license in sections 3.3.1, 3.3.2 and 3.3.9 to relax some restrictions we put in place earlier this year.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;In particular, we are relaxing all restrictions on the development tools used to create iOS apps, as long as the resulting apps do not download any code. This should give developers the flexibility they want, while preserving the security we need.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;In addition, for the first time we are publishing the App Store Review Guidelines to help developers understand how we review submitted apps. The main differences from the iPhone are the lack of indicators for the touch controls (because there are no touch controls when running it on the desktop) and the lack of (brief) cut scenes (because video playback on iOS devices is handled very differently from on the desktop version).&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;And yes, a desktop version will be released down the line.&lt;/p&gt;

It’s amazing how clunky the MANTA looks compared to the new design (which, not coincidentally, uses &lt;em&gt;far&lt;/em&gt; fewer polygons).&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Two of the major changes in manta 2010 are that the player now has a “afterburners” and a “quick turn” maneuver.&lt;/p&gt;

Note that it’s using the old typographic treatment of “MANTA”. I ended up not using it because of the strokes which bugged me. If I had my druthers I would have redone the logo using a black version of Eurostile, but I didn’t want to spend money on typefaces when we’d already put a ton of time and money into the project. (Ah the joys of indie development.)&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;In case you’re wondering, the backdrop was generated from a bunch of particle effects in Apple’s &lt;em&gt;Motion&lt;/em&gt; (which is rapidly becoming one of my favorite programs to play with).
